Thanksgiving Celebration

Yesterday went very well! My guests of honor were the fine Airmen that are assigned me here in Japan. I originally invited about eight people for the Thanksgiving meal, but ended up with about thirteen people by nights end.

Since I have been in the military, I have always worked for a great many hard-working, and caring individuals, who selflessly went out of their way to accommodate the needs of their peers and those whom they employed. They were (are) great role-models and, along with my parents, have been great instructors of altruistic-philanthropy for whom I wish to pattern my life.

The Menu: with the exception of the turkey, I prepared a rather traditional meal; cran-apple stuffing, scalloped potatoes, candied yams, green bean casserole, Hawaiian rolls, french rolls, cranberry relish, a spiral ham, and charcoal roasted turkey (of which I soaked over night in a honey brine). Mmmm... delicious! For desserts, nothing extraordinaire - pumpkin and pecan pies, mandarin-orange fruit salad, brownies, and a small flutes of Sangue-di-Giuda (an Italian dessert wine (an after meal digestive))!
