Never in my wildest dreams would I have considered coming to Hawaii as an appropriate segue, or re-acclimation to American culture. I've spent three years in Japan, and let me tell ya(!), initially going to Japan was a "brick-wall" of culture shock, in and of itself... and, now, I feel the same way about the States (keep in mind that I've lived a total of six years in two foreign countries).
Man, seriously. I knew that Hawaii was a very popular vacation spot for Japanese tourist, but when you add their total number to that of the Hawaii residents of Japanese descent, and throw in all the popular restaurant habits/styles of Japan (on this island), and add the English/Japanese bi-linguists, it's almost as if I brought Japan with me!
But, you know what? There are no cats in America and the streets are paved with cheese! J/P. Naw, seriously, though... I'M BACK HOME - somewhat! :)
